New 10 kW Planar Power Transformers offers increased power density in high power converters.

These new 99 series, 10 kW power transformers from Planar Magnetics Ltd., designers and manufacturers of planar technology transformers and inductors, offer increased power density in high power converters. Power ratings are up to 10kW, and higher, depending on applications. They have a highly efficient thermal performance and because of their unique construction and absence of bobbins there is lower thermal resistance between winding and mounting base. This results in high power density and cooler operation. Winding voltages are up to 700V; winding current up to 250A and switching frequency 30 kHz to 200kHz. The 99 Series is suitable for a wide range of applications including off-line single and 3 phase. All materials are UL approved for class F operation. Options include electrostatic screening and custom terminations. The significant benefits of planar magnetic technology include - low leakage inductance, lower winding AC resistance and a high consistency between components. The mechanical benefits also contribute to the development of more efficient power converter products. The low profile of planar magnetic components opens up new design opportunities in many power circuit applications.
